Sam graduated from Florida State University with a BA in Government in 1981. In 1986, Sam received his law degree from the Florida State University College of Law. While an undergraduate student at FSU, Sam interned in the offices of U. S. Senator Lawton Chiles, Governor Bob Graham, and State Representative James Ward of Ft. Walton Beach. He was hired by Rep. Ward after graduation to serve as his Legislative Aide, and served there until his acceptance into law school in 1983. While in law school he served as Chief Justice of the FSU Honor Court, clerked with the Tallahassee law Firm of Roberts, Baggett, LaFace & Richards, interned for Florida House Speaker James Harold Thompson, and was employed as an analyst for the State Comprehensive Plan Committee. Sam is the past President of the Florida 4-H Foundation, and former Board member of the Theodore Roosevelt Society. He has served as Chairman of the Florida Agricultural Coalition, comprised of twenty-five Florida agricultural entities and associations. He directs governmental affairs activities for the Firm and its clients, and has extensive lobbying experience at the local, state, and federal levels. Sam's practice of law includes new corporation creation and organization, environmental permitting, ad valorem tax and sales tax issues, probate and estate planning. |
